My first review.
Let me start by saying that all my reviews are 100% honest and is in no way sponsored.
I chose this book to review because it was one of my most anticipated reads for 2019.
I’ve been following these characters for years so I was super excited to see how their story developed.
The hype leading up to this book was amazing and I had so many high expectations for this, especially because I love LJ’s writing style.
Broken Knight is such a beautifully written book but to get the full impact of it you need to have read her previous books. This book was advertised as a romance but for me it was not.
Luna and Knights relationship like everything else in the book took a back seat to Rosie’s disease. I had such a difficult time reviewing this because on one hand it’s a beautiful story but on the other the love story between the main characters were disappointing.
Knight is one of my favorite characters from Leigh, he’s such a sweet broken soul you just can’t help but love him. Throughout this entire book he held my attention, from his petty lies to his brokenness and then redemption, I felt connected to him. I loved the way he loves, not just Luna but his family and friends. He’s so protective of those who matter to him.
The relationship that the Cole’s have is what made this book so special to me, you got to see characters that you already loved develop and grow along with you. It’s so weird for me because before BK Dean and Rosie were my least favorite couple but I absolutely loved them here. If the book was just about Knight’s journey throughout his Mom’s death then I would of given this book a solid 5.
However, Luna.....she was my least favorite character from Leigh. I felt like her character was so disappointing, and not just because of FUCKING JOSH (inside joke)
Throughout the entire book I was waiting for her to do something more, I know that she had her own issues and she needed time to grow and come into her own but even when she did I was still waiting for it to reflect in her behavior towards Knight. At the end of this book I felt like Knight loved Luna way more than she loved him and it took away from the story for me. At one point I wanted Knight to forget about her and find a love that he deserved. I wanted him to find a love that rivaled his parents own, I needed his moonshine to break for him and pull the tides and the sand because that’s what he DESERVED!
I wished that Leigh wrote the ending differently so Luna would of told Knight that she loved him first, at least she would of redeemed herself a little so the entire book was not just knight breaking for her.
Between Luna and all the unnecessary misunderstanding in the book I will have to give it 4/5 beautiful stars.
